If you work remotely you are not going to buy your usual coffee and sandwich near your office, and that is going to have economic consequences so someone should pay for that through higher taxes. That is the premise behind a suggestion from Deutsche Bank that the post-pandemic world will need a tax on remote workers. I am not in favor of it – at all-but I do think that it is time to think creatively around the next phase of work. You can read more here in my Globe and Mail column.
