Maybe we will have a recession, maybe we won’t, and anyway by all means use a different word if you prefer.’Slowdown’, ‘Soft Patch’, ‘Downturn’, any of them will do, and any might describe where the economy will be by next year. If we do hit that soft patch though, are layoffs inevitable? In the past they have been, but perhaps it is time for companies to re-think how to act when the economy falters.
