Our guest today is Lance Mortlock, the author of Disaster Proof; Scencario Planning for a Post-Pandemic Future and he joins us to talk about how organizations and individuals can get read for the post-pandemic future by imagining the scenarios ahead of them and getting prepared for each.


Lance is a Senior Strategy Partner with Ernst & Young (EY), based in Canada and has provided management consulting services on +150 projects to more than +60 clients in 11 countries. Lance has had the opportunity to work with the c-suite at leading national and international oil and gas, power and utility, mining, manufacturing, aerospace, infrastructure and government and public sector organizations.

Bringing a broad set of strategic skills and experiences Lance helps clients solve some of their most complex strategic problems. Areas of support and experience include corporate and business unit strategy and planning, strategy execution, market opportunity assessment, merger and transaction integration and carve-outs ($60 Billion in deals completed), cost management, transformation, innovation, business management systems, process improvement, enterprise risk management, organization performance, design & effectiveness and change management.

As a strategist, Lance has authored 31 points of view on a variety of important business topics. Lance is also an expert in energy industry trends and market dynamics in Canada, with over 100 citations in various industry publications, national and international newspapers, and has been featured on BNN several times.

Lance has an undergraduate degree with Hons from Exeter University, an MBA with distinction from Cardiff Business School, is a Certified Management Consultant, Certified Change Management Professional, Certified Six Sigma Black Belt and a Project Management Professional. Lance completed a LEAD certificate in Corporate Innovation from Stanford Graduate School of Business and an AI certificate from MIT. He is a guest lecturer for the MBA program on strategy, relationship management and management consulting and an Visiting Professor at the University of Calgary Haskayne School of Business. Lance is also IDEO certified who are an award-winning global design firm that take a human-centered, design-based approach to helping organizations innovate.

Lance also serves on the Board of the Canadian Energy and Climate Nexus, a non-governmental, non-profit organization to help Canadians develop energy systems in balance with climate change constraints through collaborative problem-solving, collective commitment and bold action.
